Terms of service

1. What it is

Lemma is a Discord bot. Someone posts a word in a channel, the bot checks it in the dictionary and the group votes from 1 to 10. By using it, or by adding it to a server, you accept these terms.

2. Who can use it

Anyone who follows Discord's Terms of Service and Community Guidelines, including the minimum age. If Discord has banned you, Lemma is not for you either.

3. What you must not do

• Use words or votes to harass, humiliate or attack people. The fun is about the words, not about people.
• Manipulate ratings or rankings with fake accounts, mass voting or automation.
• Overload the bot or exploit bugs. If you find one, tell me.
• Use the bot for anything illegal.

4. What others can see

The words, the average ratings, the points, the titles and who posted each word are visible to everyone in the channel where the bot works. The 👀 Votes button shows the rating each person gave. If that does not suit you, do not vote. Voting is never required.

5. Definitions

Definitions come from the Wiktionary on English servers (text under the CC BY-SA licence, linked from each card) and from the Priberam Dictionary on Portuguese ones, where it belongs to Priberam. Photos, when there are any, come from Wikimedia and belong to their authors, with the licence and credit shown under the card. Lemma is not affiliated with or endorsed by Wiktionary, Priberam or Discord.

6. Who is in charge

Anyone with the Manage Server permission decides where the bot works, chooses its options (see the Server setup page) and can remove it whenever they like. Whoever runs Lemma can delete words and votes, and can block people or servers from using the bot in case of abuse.

7. No guarantees

Lemma is free and works as it is. It may go down, have bugs, lose data or change. I do not guarantee it will always be available. To the extent the law allows, I am not liable for losses that result from your using it.

8. Changes

I may change these terms or the bot. The date at the top shows the version in force. If you keep using Lemma after a change, you accept the new version.

9. Governing law

These terms are governed by Portuguese law.
