I store the minimum the game needs: words, votes and usage counts. I do not store your conversations, I sell nothing to anyone and there is no advertising.
1. Who is responsible
Lemma is run by one person, who decides what data is stored and why. Contact on Discord: @tedisntfat.
2. What I store
- Words
- The accepted word, its class and definition, the date, the ID and visible name of whoever posted it, and the IDs of the server, the channel and the card message.
- Votes
- The rating, the ID of whoever voted and the date.
- Usage
- Counts per person and per day: words posted, votes, channel messages, commands and buttons. Only the type of action, never the content.
- Servers
- The server ID and game channel ID, and the options a manager chose: language, card style, reading the channel, roles, photos, first-time tip and weekly recap (on or off, day, hour and time zone).
- First time
- The ID and date of the first time you use the bot, so the welcome tip shows only once.
A Discord ID identifies your account, so it counts as personal data.
3. What I do not store
- The text of your messages. The bot only reads the configured channel. If a message is an accepted word, it stores the word. Everything else is ignored and not stored.
- Private messages. The bot does not read DMs. It only writes to you privately when you ask with
/pending. - Emails, IP addresses or any account data beyond your ID and visible name.
The bot's technical log stores errors and may include the word that caused one, for example when the dictionary does not answer.
4. What I use it for
Only to make the game work: showing cards, computing averages, points, rankings and titles, posting the weekly recap and assigning title roles. Usage counts are used to understand how the bot is used and to fix bugs.
The legal basis is the legitimate interest in keeping the bot running (GDPR, Art. 6(1)(f)).
5. Who sees the data
On Discord: everyone in the channel sees the words, the average ratings, the points, the titles and who posted each word. The 👀 Votes button shows each person's rating.
Outside Discord: nobody. I do not sell or share the data and I do not use it for advertising. There are three technical exceptions:
- Discord, which runs the platform. See its policy.
- The dictionary of the server's language: the Wiktionary (English servers) or the Priberam Dictionary (Portuguese servers). It receives every word typed on its own in the channel to check that it exists. It receives only the word, without the name or ID of whoever wrote it.
- Wikimedia (Wikipedia and Commons), which receives the word of each new card to look for a free photo. Also only the word. A server manager can turn photos off in the server options.
6. Where it is kept and for how long
In a database on the computer of whoever runs Lemma, with backups in the same place. It is kept while the bot is in use. A deleted word takes the votes it received with it.
7. Your rights
You can ask for access to, correction or deletion of your data, object to processing and ask for a copy. Just message me on Discord: @tedisntfat. I answer within one month.
- If you ask for deletion, I delete your words, your votes and your counts, including in backups.
- You can delete one of your own words that has no votes with
/delete. - If Lemma leaves your server, ask me to delete that server's data.
If you think I have not handled your data properly, you can complain to the Portuguese Data Protection Authority (CNPD) or to the authority in your country.
8. Age
Lemma is for people who may use Discord. I do not knowingly collect data from anyone below the minimum age.
9. This website
It uses no cookies, no visit analytics and no third-party fonts. The only script is the one on the Server setup page, which belongs to this site, runs only in your browser and sends nothing. The hosting service may keep technical access logs, such as the IP address, on its own systems.
10. Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top changes too.
